Nonprofit

Partnering for Impact. Our Mission is to Fulfill Yours.

We are a trusted partner to nonprofit organizations.

Your organization serves a critical mission in the community. Fulfilling this mission strengthens the fabric of the communities in which we live and work. Prudent investment management and advice from a trusted partner ensures the long-term mission of the organization is preserved. Equally important, nonprofit boards have a duty of care to protect their financial assets. In addition to advising on and managing the investment portfolio, we provide customized reporting and sophisticated analyses.

When we manage your assets, we take the following investment approach.

Three advisors review documents together on a table.

Beyond investment management, we provide nonprofit boards with investment policy review, revision and drafting. We also provide regulatory and fiduciary counsel, planned giving advice and financial mission support. When appropriate, we are experienced with adding alternative investment classes and ESG strategies to nonprofit client portfolios.

Nonprofit by the Numbers

Our track record is unparalleled, and we are passionate about doing the right thing for our clients. Our only products are advice and service. Through our experiences of both chairing and participating on nonprofit boards there are few challenges we have not faced.

Select Nonprofit Clients

The nonprofits included in the list have provided their agreement to the use of their organization name and logo. They are current clients and may not represent the experience of other clients and do not guarantee future performance or success; no compensation was exchanged for these recognitions.

Our Investment Philosophy

One size does not fit all clients.

Our fiduciary responsibility to your organization and its investment funds is our highest priority. We believe the following:

  • Overall asset allocation is the largest driver of portfolio returns.
  • Plan for known risks; diversify against the unknown.
  • Changes in the business cycle require changes in portfolio construction.
  • When liquidity is not an issue, we can explore alternatives like private placement assets, direct middle market lending, real estate, private equity and low equity market correlated assets.
  • We also help organizations implement ESG and socially responsible investing goals.
  • Balancing long-term growth goals against short-term volatility and drawdown is vital.
  • Controlling risk is an important objective, but is secondary to preserving purchasing power.
  • Prudence is our guiding principle.
  • The most important investment goal for nonprofits is the ability to continue their mission.
  • The preservation of purchasing power is essential.
  • Spend rates and investment strategies must be in sync to achieve long-term investment objectives.

Without well served clients, we don't have a business. As an employee-owned firm, this truth is more than a platitude. It is cultural.

Diversification and asset allocation do not ensure a profit or guarantee against loss.
