Hugh is Chairman Emeritus at Graypoint LLC. He joined First Albany Corporation in 1978 after serving as Executive Vice President of Hugh Johnson & Company, Inc. Hugh is an economic advisor to the Chairman of the State of New York State Assembly Committee on Ways and Means, an adjunct professor at Union-Clarkson Graduate College, a former member of the New York Stock Exchange, a former member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Finance Council, and served as a member of the New York State Comptroller’s Management Review Commission (transition team). Hugh has been appointed to the Investment Advisory Committee of the New York State Common Retirement Fund. Hugh serves on the boards of Security Mutual Insurance Company and Pursuit (formerly New York Business Development Company). Hugh holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and studied for a doctorate at New York University and has received two degrees of Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
